I was listening to Shirley the other day on a call with a prospective client who was investigating coaching. The person calling had a very small brokerage. It was in its infancy stage and wasn’t a great fit for our coaching ….not yet anyway.
What they said next, BLEW ME AWAY!
Essentially they felt that they needed coaching NOW (we agreed with this) and would NOT need coaching when they GOT BIGGER and more successful. Shirley was able to challenge this statement but I’m not really sure they bought it.
Now I would have challenged this in a far more aggressive way. Hey, many of you know me and know I don’t mince words. To believe that once you have achieved some success you no longer need a coach, is absolute nonsense!
As a sports guy, my examples would fill a tractor-trailer. What pro-athlete would even consider NOT being coached? Growth at any level needs support. Either through training, coaching, or mentoring. I work with true thoroughbreds in the real estate industry, and they all benefit and thrive with specialized business coaching. It is the difference between an OK business and a PHENOMENALLY successful & profitable enterprise.
Next time I hear “I won’t need coaching when I’m successful“ expect me to add a little something to the conversation.
