When you connect with someone, you demonstrate that you care. You have two ears and one mouth for a reason, and this is when you use them accordingly. Ask and then listen and listen, and then ask again and then listen some more. I encourage you to take notes when possible as it guarantees you will remember what they said in a future conversation you might have with that person.
The key is to aim to first connect and while doing so begin to qualify. But connecting is fundamental over everything else. You don’t talk your way into trust and a connection, you ask and listen your way into it.
